Life Jackets for Kids, Inc. takes a hands off position.  This is accomplished by granting the needs of the families as they occur.  The social workers at the hospital, along with Dr. Emad Salman, Medical Director and the head of Pediatric Cancer and Hematology unit at the Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida, identify the needs of these families. After exhausting all other possible sources of funds from government offices and charities, the social worker requests assistance from Life Jackets for Kids, Inc. The grant committee from Life Jackets for Kids, Inc. reviews the request and, as funding allows, usually are able to fulfill these needs in 24-48 hours.

        Samples of grants we could make with your assistance are:

  • Repairing the family car, in order for the family to continue visiting their critically ill child. 

  • Issue gas/phone cards to a family.

  • Giving a gift to the child the Social worker requested.

  •  A weekend in a hotel or condo, along with the gift cards necessary for the meals, so the family can enjoy the time together creating long term memories, while reducing the sadness of the moment. 

  • A personal gift of a toy or iPod 

  • Tickets to a ball game of the child's choice.  Usually local due to the condition of the children and the necessity of being close to a medical facility. 

  • Any out of pocket miscellaneous expenses needed by the family that are not paid for by insurance or other grants etc. 
  • We can go on forever, but put your self in the parents shoes and think of what you might need.  During this time you are devastated and want to try to not show it to your child.

In order to achieve our goals, Life Jackets for Kids, Inc needs your donations.  Please make all checks payable to Life Jackets for Kids, Inc.  Your contribution checks may be sent to the address below.  Please include your email address so that we can acknowledge the receipt of your donation and email you an acknowledgment.
